Tips and Info for Vinyl Decals

Oracle 651

Used for Car Decals, drinkware, plates, other items subjected to water:

Shelf Life (68°F/50% relative humidity) 2 years

Minimum Life Expectancy:

6 years - colors/transparent

4 years - metallic

3 years – brilliant blue(based on accepted application procedures on vertical surfaces)

Minimum Application Temperature 46°F

Oracle 631 for Walls:

Durability: 3 years

Extra precaution should be taken when applying wall graphics to "Low VOC" or "Zero VOC" paints, as these paints may exhibit lower adhesion levels.

Wait up to 24 hours before removing application tape, allowing a stronger bond to form to the application.

Tips MA has found to be useful if removing Oracle 651:

Option 1: Heat Removal.

Heat can damage vinyl. Direct heat from a hair dryer tends to work

well for removing vinyl decals you have decided to remove.

Steps:

Apply heat slowly over the edges of the vinyl until you notice it softening or bubbling. Don't get too close and it doesn't take too long. Often, you can start with the heat process and continue with the peel process.
When you get a loose edge, slide the scraper under the vinyl and slowly work with the heat to lift up the rest of the vinyl.

Option 2: Peel it with your fingers

A nail technician once told MA, "Your nails are jewels, not tools." But, this is one time your finger may be tools. Try not to ruin your nails! 😉 If the vinyl has not been in place too long, it may come up easily. OR if there are already loose pieces, all you need to do is get a grip on it and peel, slowly & gently.
Afterward, find a vehicle safe adhesive remover to ensure your vehicle is completely free and clear of all remnants of the vinyl.
